Laser Eye Surgery

Laser surgery is suitable for mild to moderate vision problems in young individuals. Vista offers two different laser eye treatments: the SmartSurface and Femto-LASIK methods. Both methods correct the eye’s cornea. After a free initial check, we determine which method is best for your eyes. Laser treatment is straightforward, painless, and requires only a short recovery time.

Costs: Available from CHF 1490 per eye.

  • Short treatment time
  • Rapid recovery time
  • Possibility of further laser correction
  • Eyes may be dry for a period after the treatment
  • Not suitable for everyone

Additional Intraocular Lens Implant

For those for whom laser eye surgery is not suitable, there is a good alternative – lens implantation. The significant advantage is that lens implantation does not change the cornea. The implanted lens lasts a lifetime and can be removed at any time and replaced with a different type of lens if needed.

Intraocular Lens Implant as an alternative to Laser Eye Surgery

Implanting an additional lens, known as an «Implantable Collamer Lens» (ICL), is suitable for farsighted and nearsighted individuals up to about the age of 45 – before presbyopia occurs. An implantable lens is often the alternative to laser eye surgery when the cornea is too thin or the vision correction needed is too high. The ICL is placed in front of the eye’s natural lens, serving as a type of contact lens inside the eye.

  • Suitable for everyone
  • Can correct any vision problem
  • Suitable for presbyopia correction
  • 100% reversible
  • Unusual optical phenomena immediately after the procedure (which only last a short while)
  • Surgical procedure that takes slightly longer than a laser eye surgery

Eye Lens Replacement Surgery

To improve vision, there is also the option of replacing your natural lens with an artificial lens. This is a popular option, for example, in the case of presbyopia.

The Types of Intraocular lenses

The standard lens is made of high-quality material and provides good distance or near vision. It does not correct presbyopia (age-related farsightedness) or any existing astigmatism. Therefore, reading glasses or multifocal glasses are usually required after the surgery.

The standard lens includes a UV filter, which protects the retina from high-energy and potentially harmful wavelengths of sunlight. However, the filter does not replace the need for wearing sunglasses. The cost of a standard lens is fully covered by health insurance.

Aspheric lenses, like standard lenses, provide single-vision correction and include a UV filter. The special aspheric optics of these intraocular lenses result in improved contrast, enhancing visual performance even in low-light conditions, thereby improving overall vision quality and comfort. The cost of aspheric lenses is not covered by health insurance.

Unlike aspheric lenses, the MiDi lens offers good vision without glasses from a computer distance. However, reading glasses with reduced strength are still necessary for comfortable reading. The cost of MiDi lenses is not covered by health insurance.

If there is corneal astigmatism, it can be corrected with a toric intraocular lens. Toric lenses typically provide very good distance vision without the need for glasses. Toric lenses are not covered by health insurance.

Multifocal lenses allow for good vision at multiple distances without glasses, tailored to the individual needs of each patient. In addition to providing good distance vision, they also correct presbyopia and any existing astigmatism. Multifocal lenses are not covered by health insurance.
